Ang Nipigon ay isang bayan-bayanan na matatagpuan mo sa likas na mga krus na daan ng Canada at ang sentro ng pamamahala ng “Lake Superior National Maritime Conservation Area’ o ng Pook Pambansa ng Pangangalagang Pandagat ng Lawang Superior-ang pinakamalaking iniingatang pook na tubig-tabang sa buong mundo.
Nag-iisang bayan na may ganap na serbisyo para isang-daang kilometriko sa alin mang direksiyo, ang Nipigon ay likas na krus na daan at pook patungo sa maraming lawa, tanawin at mga bagay–bagay na nakakatawag-pansin. Ilan sa mga kahanga-hangang tubig-tabang na pangingisda sa panahon ng tagsibol (spring) ay nagsisimula sa mga lawa at ilog ng Nipigon. Ito ang tahanan ng “World-Record Brook Trout” o ang Kilala o Nakatala sa Buong Mundo na Tubig-tabang na Batis-Isda,kasin-katulad ng Salmon.
Matatagpuan sa pagitan ng malawak na mga tubig-tabang ng Lawang Superior , Lawang Nipigon at ng Ilog-Nipigon, ang tubig dito ay ang pinakakilalang-kilala na bagay ng Nipigon ngunit iyan lang ang simula. Binabaybayan ng mga lawa at ilog nito ng mga gubat na “boreal", mga liwasang-lupain at liko-likong baybay-dagat na nagbibigay ng likas na kapaligiran para sa masiglang lokal na bayan.
Ang Nipigon ay halos-lahat lugar-panlalawigan at isang bayan na gumagamit hanggang sa pinakaposibleng kaparaanan ng likas nitong kayamanan. Nipigon is a town for all seasons as it offers family recreation and social activities year round. The Nipigon Community Centre is operated by the Nipigon Township and offers multi-purpose indoor activities such as ice-hockey, figure skating and basketball, in addition to fitness, sewing and other programming. For outdoor recreation facilities, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a golf course are available. Paddle-to-The-Sea Park is Nipigon’s newest recreational attraction for children and adults. It features an interpretive, themed family park in Nipigon’s downtown core, which continues along a newly constructed promenade to the spectacular Nipigon Marina. This world-class attraction is part of Nipigon’s downtown revitalization project. Outside of its impressive facilities and attractions, Nipigon is a natural playground for residents and visitors. A picturesque marina and wondrous waterways make Nipigon a world-renowned destination for water activities. Some of Canada’s best freshwater fishing action starts on the Nipigon lakes and rivers every spring. The world record brook trout weighing 14lb was caught on the Nipigon River in 1915 and since that time, the river has become a Mecca for anglers.
