The McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay is a 45-bed facility which includes the attached 22-bed Wilkes Terrace long-term care facility. As with Terrace Bay’s general practice services, the emergency department boasts excellent response times.

Residents also have access to specialists and state-of-the-art technology at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre which is less than two hours’ drive from Terrace Bay or through tele-health videoconferencing in Terrace Bay.

Terrace Bay is serviced by both the Superior Greenstone and Superior North Catholic School Boards.  The Town offers excellent schools with smaller class sizes and caring staff who are fully invested in their students. Daycare services for children from 18 months to 11 years of age are provided by the Kids’ Corral Centre. The Terrace Bay Public School, St. Martin Catholic School, and École Catholique Franco Terrace offer primary school education up to grade 8. A heated outdoor swimming pool gives residents a great place to unwind on hot summer days, and three playgrounds and a skateboard park offer kids a variety of safe places for healthy play. Golfers can hone their skills at the challenging 9-hole course operated by the volunteer-based Aguasabon Golf Club.

The Terrace Bay Memorial Arena becomes a major community focal point in the winter, seating 1,000 spectators and hosting Figure Skating, Minor and No Body Contact Hockey, various community leagues and daily public skating. The volunteer-operated Trestle Ridge Ski Hill offers nine runs ranging from Beginner to Advanced-Intermediate skill levels and is within walking distance of the town centre.

Along with the formidable list of organized facilities and activities, residents enjoy life among some of the world’s most remarkable outdoors. Terrace Bay offers access to large and small-game hunting and freshwater fishing on both inland lakes and Lake Superior.
